In 1950s Mexico City, William Lee (Daniel Craig), a solitary American expatriate in his late forties, navigates life within a small community of fellow Americans, many of whom are students or veterans surviving on part-time jobs and GI Bill benefits. Isolated and detached, Lee finds his existence upended when he meets Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey), a young, recently discharged U.S. Navy serviceman. Drawn to Allerton, Lee begins to pursue the possibility of a meaningful, intimate connection for the first time in years, marking a shift in his otherwise stagnant life. Directed by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Challengers), Queer blends the surreal and reflective, capturing both the complexities of desire and the era’s unique expat culture.
