Join us at the Art Theatre of Long Beach to celebrate our centennial with a truly special event! On Saturday, January 25th, we’re marking the 100th anniversary of the theater`s first public screening with a one-night-only showing—complete with classic 1925 ticket prices and much more! The evening will begin with an introduction by our film programmer, Kennedy Ghaill, alongside special guests. Together, they`ll explore a century of cinema history, including the story of the Art Theatre. Before the main feature, enjoy a preshow filled with vintage advertisements, trailers, a cartoon, and then dive into the classic horror masterpiece, The Phantom of the Opera (1925), starring Lon Chaney and accompanied by a live piano score from Cliff Retalick. In this iconic film, aspiring opera singer Christine Daaé is drawn into a mysterious relationship with Erik, the Phantom—a disfigured recluse living beneath the Paris Opera House. As Erik`s obsession grows, Christine’s suitor, Raoul, races to save her from the Phantom’s sinister demands. This event is likely to sell out, so secure your tickets quickly! Tickets will reserve your seat until 30 minutes after the posted showtime (7:30 PM). After 8:00 PM, any unclaimed seats will be resold to customers in the standby line. Doors open at 6:30 PM, Saturday, January 25th.
